01Who we are
Praramva means beginning for change. We are a non-profit, non-governmental social welfare organisation in Nepal, working where the need is greatest, in education, health, agriculture and the protection of women and children.
Welfare is where we start. Self-reliance is what we are working toward. Since 2069 B.S. that has meant rebuilding schools, keeping classes running after the earthquake, and staying in the same villages long enough for it to count.

Praramva was founded to hold education, health and agriculture together rather than treat them as separate problems. In a village they never are.

Health camps and awareness programmes reaching remote communities with basic care.

03Selected work
Schools rebuilt, classes kept running
After the Gorkha earthquake, Praramva became part of the reconstruction effort in Sindhupalchok and Kavre, first with temporary learning centres, then with permanent buildings.

The Bamboo School
Panchakanya Primary School was rebuilt in bamboo and handed back to the community. A school designed for the hills it stands in.
Piskar, Sindhupalchok
Temporary Learning Centres
Centres at Mangalamai Secondary School gave children a safe place to keep studying while permanent schools were rebuilt.

Homes for Earthquake-Affected Families
Built in collaboration with the Singapore Red Cross for families displaced by the Gorkha earthquake.

04Recognition
Recognised for a decade of grassroots work
An award presented by Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Jhamak Kumari Rai, President of the Armed Police Force Women's Association, to Kalpana Rai, for her role as a guardian to children in need, for promoting health, education and agriculture, and for her active awareness work to eradicate human trafficking.

What we are, on the record
Individual donors are our main support, so we would rather be plain about how the organisation is constituted and where giving goes.
- Non-profit, non-governmental, non-religious and non-political. Registered under the Social Welfare Act 2049 and the Agency Registration Act 2034.

- Resources are allocated to those most in need: schools, health camps, reconstruction and the endowments that keep rebuilt schools running.
