What we actually do

Praramva works across five connected areas and delivers them through named projects in specific villages. Below is the full picture: the programmes, and the places they have reached.

02What we do

Five threads of the same work

Praramva was founded to hold education, health and agriculture together rather than treat them as separate problems. In a village they never are.

01

Education

Scholarships, libraries, computers and school reconstruction, so that learning does not stop.

The right to an education is vital to the economic, social and cultural development of any society. It improves life-long health, income and prospects. Praramva promotes quality education, provides scholarships, and supplies books, educational and sports materials. The organisation has set up managed libraries and provided technical equipment such as computers to schools across Kavre, Sindhupalchok and Lalitpur.

02

Health

Health camps and awareness programmes reaching remote communities with basic care.

Praramva organises health camps in Kavre, Sindhupalchok, Lalitpur and other remote areas, and runs awareness programmes on water, sanitation and health hazards. Our welfare services span preventive, nurturing, supportive and remedial measures, with resources allocated to those most in need.

03

Agriculture & Environment

Supporting rural livelihoods and the land they depend on, alongside education and health.

Praramva was founded to encompass education, health and agriculture together rather than in isolation. We work to fill the gaps in government services and achieve change at the grass roots, supporting agricultural livelihoods and environmental stewardship in the communities where we work.

04

Women & Child Protection

Vocational skills for women, and campaigns against trafficking, child labour and abuse.

We provide support to women in need, offering vocational skills that enable lives of financial independence and self-esteem. Praramva raises awareness against the trafficking of girls driven by poverty, works to reduce school dropout rates, and campaigns against child abuse, child labour, gender bias and untouchability. Women are strong decision-makers and peace builders, and our work is to make sure they can reach their full potential.

05

Volunteering

Sustainable change only happens when the community itself is proactively involved.

Praramva believes that unless members of society are involved proactively in the process of development, sustainable change will not happen. We encourage and invite volunteers to be an active part of the organisation and to share the same vision and purpose: to work for the welfare of children.

How we work

Three rules we hold to

Sustainable change does not happen unless members of society are involved proactively in the process of development. That belief shapes how every project is run.

01

Start where people already are

We work through the school, the village committee and the health post that a community already trusts, rather than building something parallel to them.

02

Build the thing, then endow it

A rebuilt school is only the first half. Our trusts and endowment funds exist so that buildings keep functioning long after the construction crew leaves.

03

Hand it back

Every project is designed to be handed over: to the school, to the community, to the people who will run it for the next thirty years.

03Selected work

Schools rebuilt, classes kept running

After the Gorkha earthquake, Praramva became part of the reconstruction effort in Sindhupalchok and Kavre, first with temporary learning centres, then with permanent buildings.

The Bamboo School

Panchakanya Primary School was rebuilt in bamboo and handed back to the community. A school designed for the hills it stands in.

Temporary Learning Centres

Centres at Mangalamai Secondary School gave children a safe place to keep studying while permanent schools were rebuilt.

Long-term funding

Trusts, foundations and endowment funds

Alongside construction, Praramva establishes and manages charitable trusts, foundations and endowment funds for the institutions it supports. Janta Lower Secondary School and Shree Janashayog Primary School in Piskar are both supported this way.

An endowment turns a one-off donation into a running income for a school: for teachers, books, maintenance and the small, unglamorous costs that decide whether a rebuilt classroom is still in use a decade later.

Alongside schools we build community halls, water taps, toilets, libraries and laboratories, and we have begun offering life-skill training through a training academy, with plans to extend support to survivors of domestic violence and abuse, those disabled by war, and orphans.

Take part

Every beginning needs someone to start it

Individual donors have always been our main support. A gift, a partnership or a few weeks of your time all move the same work forward.
